Crushin Crushes the Chrusher.

Crush: to press between opposing bodies so as to break or injure, to break, pound, or grind (stone or ore, for example) into small fragments or powder, to put down; subdue, to overwhelm or oppress severely, to press upon, shove, or crowd, to crumple or rumple.

I had this thought today as I was thinking about my most recent crush. Why is such a harsh word used as a means of defining an infatuation with someone? Who on earth came up with the bright idea of calling someone you like a "crush"?
But then it hit me. It really is a fitting word. I mean, life sucks when I have a crush on someone. A bad hair day is even worse when you're crushing than on any other day when you don't care what people think. You get this overwhelming feeling of doubt; does he like me? When you don't see that person for forever, you feel even more doubt. It's awful. Especially because it's rare for anyone that the person you crush actually likes you back. It's depressing and just smashes the ego hardcore. Why must we crush?

And so today I came to the conclusion that crushing really crushes the crusher.
